The straightflo valve (SF) is a drop in replacement valve for industrial reciprocating compressors, for speeds from 350 rpm to over 3600 rpm, pressure differential to 2500 psi (172 bar), continuous discharge temperatures over 500 F (260 C) and for all gases including highly corrosive gases and gases with high H2S content.
The SF is a world-wide patent-pending, revolutionary, reciprocating compressor valve technology that results in step improvements in valve key performance indicators through its unique design:
1. Reduced power losses. 10% measured lower compressor power in a pipeline transmission compressor running at 1000 rpm. or a 10% increase in compressor flow for the same power. Reduction in power improves with increase in speed.
2. Reliability and life improvement of at least 2 times that of existing valves.
3. Valve turn around time of about 5 - 10 minutes on site without any special tools, skilled labor, or machining. Never replace your valve seat or carrier.
4. Reduction in valve inventory by more than 80%

The straightflo valve (SF) is a drop in replacement for conventional reciprocating compressor valves. The SF brings to the industry a step improvement in performance, reliability and ease of service. Use of the SF in your compressors will lead to reduced operating costs (reduced fuel consumption/reduced emissions), increased throughput, reduced downtime and reduced inventory.
The SF has a stainless steel seat and carrier that houses modules or inserts that are held stationary between them.
Each module is an enhanced reed valve that maximizes efficiency and reliability. All wear is contained in the module.
Since the modules do not move, there is no wear on the valve seat and carrier. Therefore, they never have to be machined or replaced over the life of the compressor.
There are a total of 8 modules that cover almost the entire reciprocating compressor application.
All modules have the same outside dimensions, but differ only in the lift and stiffness.
The correct module for an application is chosen by simulating the cylinder, valves, gas and operating conditions using Zahroof's Advanced Valve Simulation Program.
Irrespective of the size of the valve, 1.5" diameter to greater than 14" diameter, the same modules can be used. Larger valves simply have more modules.
The straightflo valve is the easiest reciprocating compressor valve to service. It minimizes compressor downtime and maintenance costs by eliminating machining, taking the valves off-site and the need for skilled labor.
Modules/inserts are held stationary between the valve seat and valve carrier.
Wear is contained within the modules. There is no wear on the seat or carrier, so no machining of seat or carrier is required. Seat and carrier never needs to be replaced under normal conditions.
During a complete service, old modules are discarded and replaced with new modules.

The modules or inserts in the straightflo valves are each enhanced reed valve modules, designed to be interchangeable, with very low flow losses and high reliability. There are 8 different modules to cover the entire reciprocating compressor application. The optimum module for an application is chosen using ZVI's Advanced Valve Simulation Program.
Straight through flow path -- minimize valve losses.
Stainless steel reeds instead of moving/impacting/bending plastic plates and helical coil springs provide a step improvement in reliability.
High natural frequencies greater than 250Hz compared to 30Hz for poppets and 80Hz for plates solves pulsation and vibration related valve issues.
Design is highly tolerant to liquids and particles in the gas stream due to straight flow path, stainless steel reed design. Particles do not impact head on with hot plastic plate.
Excellent for multi-phase compression.
Reed lift and reed stiffness are optimized for a given application. Total of 8 combinations of lift and stiffness for all speeds (300 rpm to 3600 rpm), molecular weights, operating conditions.
